Research Activity in Experimental Nuclear Physics: Nuclear Structure with gamma and particle spectroscopy.

The research activity is conducted in various laboratories: Legnaro (INFN-Padova), GSI (Darmstadt), GANIL (France), Argonne (USA), CERN/ISOLDE, RIKEN (Japan)…, employing heavy ion reactions from few MeV/A to 600 MeV/A and large detection systems for spectroscopy studies, such as the state-of-the-art gamma tracking array AGATA.

The main focus is on the origin of nuclear deformation and shape coexistence phenomena, collective modes of excitations (rotation and vibration) and on the coupling between single particle and collective degrees of freedom. The activity concerns the development of analysis techniques for gamma and particle spectroscopy and in the phenomenological interpretation of the data.
