On August 4^th, 2002, Prof. J.P.F.Sellschop , one of the most illustrious members of the International Advisory Committee, died after long suffering.

In spite of this, Prof. Sellschop, whose enormous knowledge, dedication to research and teaching, vision and inspiration have been an example to all who had the great privilege to know him, contributed up to the end to the Organization of the Conference with enthusiasm, suggestions, enlightening remarks. Reading his letters and e-mails no one could suspect how ill he was.

He is sorely missed by his family, students and collaborators and our Conference.
