Here you can find some directions on how to reach LNGS (Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso) by:

  PLANE: the closest airports are in Rome (Fiumicino) and in Pescara.

   CAR: the laboratory is located near the Assergi exit of the A24 tollway Teramo-Rome.  Coming from Rome the tollway can be reached from the Grande Raccordo Anulare (G.R.A.), following the directions for Teramo or L'Aquila. Coming from the eastern coast exit the A14 tollway at Giulianova (if coming north) or Roseto (if coming south), then follow the directions to the A24
tollway.

   BUS: there are daily runs from Rome (timetables), Giulianova and Pescara to L'Aquila, by the public, regional company ARPA. In Rome the station is located aside the Tiburtina railway station.Tiburtina railway station can be reached both from Termini main railway station (underground) and from Fiumicino Airport (train every 20 minutes). In Giulianova the coach leaves from the railway station, while in Pescara it leaves from the square in front of the railway station. In L' Aquila the new bus terminal is located near Collemaggio. Please pay attention to the fact that seats are numbered. Additionally, there are private services linking L'Aquila to Milan and Bologna.
