Cari colleghi,
Cordiali saluti
Chiara Guazzoni
This is the first announcement of the 10th European Symposium on
Semiconductor Detectors,
taking place June 12-16, 2005 at Wildbad Kreuth.

As on previous occasions - see Nuclear Instruments and Methods in
Physics Research,
Section A (NIMA) 512 (2003) 1-452, NIMA 439 (2000) 199-686, NIMA 377
(1996) 177-564,
NIMA 326 (1993) 1-390, NIMA 288 (1990) 1-292, NIMA 253 (1987) 309-586
for the previous
conference proceedings - the emphasis of this conference will be on
physics, technology
and properties of semiconductor devices. Large detector systems will be
left to other
conferences specialized on these aspects. Contributions to this
conference are invited
for the following fields:

. Principles and Properties of Detectors
    . Readout Electronics
    . Device Physics
. Detector Technology and Semiconductor Material Properties
. Defects in Base Material and Devices (including Radiation Damage)
. New Applications for Semiconductor Detectors

The 2002 conference was enriched by a plenary short course on
"Fundamentals of Pulse
Processing and Noise Filtering in Radiation Detectors". We plan a
similar program item
for the actual conference i.e. a lecture on a fundamental topic relevant
for the
understanding of semiconductor detectors. In addition an extended
session on solid
state vertex detectors will be organized (please contact Silvia
Masciocchi for
details or if you want to contribute).

From 1995 to 2002 this meeting was held at Schloss Elmau. For 2005 we
have chosen a new
location, Wildbad Kreuth. We think that this new place is equaly a
beneficial change and
a continuation of the style we appreciated at Schloss Elmau. Kreuth is a
small and quiet
village close to the tourist magnet Tegernsee, a pittoresque lake
surrounded by the Bavarian
alps. Wildbad Kreuth was also favored with respect to the significantly
lower accommodation
costs there.

In order to facilitate your planning we supply a preliminary schedule:

Winter 2004/2005: circulation of the second bulletin including
registration and accommodation forms as well as further details
February 28, 2005: abstract deadline for conference contributions
April 15, 2005: deadline for registration
June 12, 2005: first day of the conference
June 16, 2005: last day, sessions end at noon

Up-to-date information on the symposium can be found on our web site

Here you can also find references to the proceedings of the previous
conferences and eventually
register for this symposium. If you wish to receive future mailings,
please let us know by
sending electronic mail to .

We are looking forward to seeing you at Wildbad Kreuth,
